EVANSVILLE − The growing popularity of the Subaru brand in the Evansville area has a longtime deallership expanding its footprint to handle the increase in volume.
On Oct. 16, Evansville’s Romain Subaru opened a new location at 7605 E Virginia St., less than a mile away from the previous spot on Cross Pointe Boulevard.
“We just flat out outgrew the building that we were in,” says the dealership’s general manager, Chad Smith.
The dealership has grown from selling around five Subarus each month to more than 70. Along with the need for additional space for more vehicles, the service area also needed more room to assist customers.
The new facility is 28,000 square feet in size and features 14 service bays and a car wash. The original facility was about 10,000 square feet. Instead of getting rid of the old building, the company recommissioned it as a Romain pre-owned facility.
Smith said the new location was attractive because of its proximity to the Romain’s Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealerships. It’s easier for them to have the properties adjoin, which provides better access for customers.
“As the company does better, we have to expand and branch out,” Smith said. “We’re constantly looking to grow and create opportunities for the employees and other people in the community. “
